Internet Search EngineA search engine is an information retrieval system designed to help find information stored on a computer system, such as on the World Wide Web, inside a corporate or proprietary network, or in a personal computer. The search engine allows one to ask for content meeting specific criteria (typically those containing a given word or phrase) and retrieves a list of items that match those criteria. This list is often sorted with respect to some measure of relevance of the results. Search engines use regularly updated indexes to operate quickly and efficiently. NewsletterA newsletter is a regularly distributed publication generally about one main topic that is of interest to its subscribers. Newspapers and leaflets are types of newsletters. Multiple Listing ServiceMultiple Listing Service (MLS) is a database that allows real estate brokers representing sellers under a listing contract to widely share information about properties with real estate brokers who may represent potential buyers or wish to cooperate with a seller's broker in finding a buyer for the property. The MLS combines the listings of all available properties that are represented by brokers who are both members of that MLS system and of NAR or CREA, (the National Association of Realtors in the US or the Canadian Real Estate Association). Web DirectoryA web directory is a directory on the World Wide Web. It lists websites by category and subcategory. The categorization is usually based on the whole website, rather than one page or a set of keywords, and sites are often limited to inclusion in only one or two categories. Web directories may allow site owners to directly submit their site for inclusion after they go through an approval process. Website SubmissionsWeb site submission is the process of giving a certain websites URL and Title to search engines, asking them to list the site on their results. Open SourceOpen source describes the principles and methodologies to promote open access to the production and design process for various goods, products and resources. The term is most commonly applied to the source code of software that is made available to the general public with either relaxed or non-existent intellectual property restrictions. This allows users to create user-generated software content through either incremental individual effort, or collaboration. |
